All About Mrs. S!
My name is Mrs. Shannon Stewart-Smith. This is my 10th year teaching at St. James Catholic school! I have taught both grades one, two, and six over these past number of years. Before teaching in a formal classroom, I worked as an Early Childhood Educator for 17 years at Algonquin College in their Early Learning Centre. There I cared for infant and toddlers, as well as preschoolers. I also mentored and guided many Algonquin College students on their journey to becoming ECE teachers.
Today I find joy and relaxation in reading, doing puzzles, taking long bike rides with my husband Gord, and catch up with my two children, Jackson and Ainsley. My son is twenty-two years old and my daughter is twenty. My son will be graduating from his studies at Carleton University with a Bachelor in Computer Science. My daughter is also attending Carleton University and is completing her final year in the Child and Youth Studies program. She is following in my footsteps, on her way to becoming a teacher! She is a World Irish Dance Champion and continues to compete worldwide.
I am truly excited to be teaching your children! I love my job and feel privileged every day that I have the opportunity to work with each of them. It is going to be a fantastic year!
